Infrared Fever Screening Systems
Research and Development is one of ST Electronics' core strengths. Customers receive innovative, proprietary systems using leading-edge technology. One such cutting-edge solution was the Infrared Fever Screening System (IFss™) which debut in April 2003. IFss™ is a thermal sensor that detects febrile people as they walk pass it. It was jointly developed with Singapore's Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) and Chartered Electro-Optics. The IFss™ answered an urgent international need to screen large groups of people for fever - one of the symptoms of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). Deployed with great success at Singapore's Changi International Airport and immigration checkpoints, the IFss™ made Singapore the first country to use such technology in this way.
