Archive News in Year 2010July 2010ST Electronics Wins S$4.6m Contract For On-Train Passenger Information Systems For Concessao Metroviaria Do Rio De Janeiro Singapore, 26 July 2010 – Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth about S$4.6m by Changchun Railway Vehicles Co Ltd (CRC). ST Electronics will deliver Passenger Information Systems (PIS) for the Rio De Janeiro metro vehicles in Brazil, a project awarded to CRC by Concessao Metroviaria Do Rio De Janeiro SA. The contract was awarded through ST Electronics’ subsidiary in Shanghai, ST Electronics (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ST Electronics will design, manufacture and commission the PIS which will be installed in 30 trains, with a total of 120 cars. The systems will enhance passenger travel experience through the provision of comprehensive real-time audio and multimedia information via computerised public announcements and digital display sub-systems. Work on the project commences immediately and is expected to be completed by mid 2011.
This contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year. ST Electronics was awarded a similar S$4.6m PIS contract by CRC for Rio De Janeiro in May 2010. Other contracts for delivery in both China and export include projects for the Singapore Downtown Line metro vehicles, the Saudi Mashaaser Mass Rapid Transit in Saudi Arabia, and projects in Asia.
