SQUARE Upgrades To iDirect Platform
To Offer Next-Generation IP Broadband Service
To Enterprise Customers

Leading Bangladeshi service provider will leverage iDirect’s platform to expand service to additional customers, support new business-critical applications

Herndon, Va., June 17, 2009 — ST Electronics related US satellite communication company, VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), today announced that SQUARE InformatiX Ltd, the largest satellite service provider in Bangladesh, has purchased an iDirect Series 15000 Universal Satellite Hub to upgrade its existing satellite broadband service. The next-generation iDirect Evolution network will enable the company to support Bangladesh’s growing enterprise market with advanced applications for banks and other corporate customers. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.

Based on the DVB-S2 standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), the iDirect platform will replace SQUARE’s existing satellite system to maximize bandwidth capacity with next-generation performance. With an Evolution network in place, SQUARE plans to migrate its existing customer base of financial institutions and other organizations to an enhanced iDirect network that will deliver data throughput improvements of up to 60 percent over existing services.

SQUARE will leverage the extra satellite capacity to expand its service and support new business applications to meet the growing demand for broadband service from the Bangladeshi enterprise market. These applications include online banking, ATM, Point-of-Sale and e-Commerce. Additionally, with bandwidth savings from iDirect’s platform, SQUARE plans to support an emerging Telemedicine service that will deliver remote access to medical consultation in rural areas where quality healthcare service has not yet reached.

The bandwidth efficiency gains we’re able to attain by upgrading to iDirect’s Evolution platform allow us to stretch existing satellite capacity further to serve additional enterprise customers. The move to a next-generation Evolution network is a key part of our long-term growth strategy as the diverse market for satellite broadband in Bangladesh continues to increase.
