ST Electronics Develops Virtual World
For Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Singapore, 18 June 2009 — ST Electronics, has won a contract from the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore to create and operate the first Virtual World for the inaugural Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, making this the first time a Virtual World is used for an Olympic event. The contract is awarded to ST Electronics’ wholly-owned subsidiary, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems).

The Virtual World will be launched online progressively as we move closer to the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games in August 2010. Once launched, anyone from anywhere in the world that has access to the Internet will be able to register and play the exciting interactive games in the Virtual World. Highly interactive and engaging in nature, the Virtual World will encourage interaction among youths around the world through ‘in-world’ experience by allowing youths to participate in the numerous individual and team activities that are related to sports, culture and education.

We are delighted to have been awarded this contract to build and operate the first Virtual World for the inaugural Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. A highly interactive system and the first of its kind in the world, the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games’ Virtual World marks ST Electronics’ continuing foray into the forefront of new media solutions. This award is a testament to our expertise in providing innovative solutions in the areas of Simulation, Animation, Games and Edutainment (SAGE). We are excited at the possibility that this system will be experienced by a wide spectrum of users and youths both within the local community and across the globe.
