ST Electronics awarded S$36.7m Contract By Thales Australia For Air Traffic Control System

Singapore, 24 April 2008 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth S$36.7m by Thales Australia for key systems and services forming part of the Thales contract for the Long Range Radar and Display System III (LORADS III) Air Traffic Control System. ST Electronics is the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd.

The award of this contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

Under this contract, ST Electronics will design and develop an Interactive Auxiliary Display Sub-system, a data warehouse and consoles. ST Electronics will also be responsible for hardware procurement, deployment, training and data adaptation services. Work commences immediately and the systems and services will be delivered to end customer Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) over a four-year period.

This is not the first time that ST Electronics is working with Thales Group in the air traffic control arena. It partnered Thales to deliver and commission LORADS II for Singapore Changi Airport in the 1990s.

ST Electronics had separately announced on 18 February that it had been awarded a 15-year maintenance contract worth S$52m by CAAS to provide first line maintenance of LORADS III Air Traffic Control System. LORADS III is a new generation Air Traffic Control system that integrates advanced air traffic management features, such as the latest surveillance, communication and safety net technologies. The system is dedicated for area, approach and tower control.
