ST Electronics Unveils iAirport

All day, all weather real-time situational control & analysis system for air traffic control

Singapore, 18 February 2008 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) will present intelligent Airport (iAirport), a state-of-the-art realtime control system that provides enhanced situational awareness and decision support tools for air traffic controllers to manage the operation of an airport and achieve higher accuracy in decision making.  iAirport will be showcased at the inaugural Singapore Airshow 2008, Asia's largest aerospace and defence event for the military and civil aviation community from 19 to 24 February 2008.

iAirport ushers in a new era of airport surveillance and control by presenting an all day, all weather realtime situational analysis system.  Developed by ST Electronics’ subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems), this innovation consists of a suite of sensing technologies.  From 3D visualisation engine, decision support to collaboration tools, these form an integrated system of systems that provides a reliable control and management of airport operations.

Using virtual reality, iAirport provides realtime information on the status and conditions of the airport platforms. The system improves airport surface safety as it is able to provide both audio and visual alerts to controllers when it detects Foreign Object Damage (FOD) debris or runway incursions.

In the face of heightened security threats amid increased air traffic, smart application of technologies to provide better and faster airport operations is crucial. iAirport presents surveillance convenience and most importantly, it also maximises airport capacity and security while reducing the workload of air traffic controllers.
