ST Engineering’s Electronics Arm Secures S$52m CAAS Maintenance Contract For Air Traffic System

Singapore, 18 February 2008 — Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) today announced that its electronics arm, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), has been awarded a 15-year maintenance contract worth S$52m by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to provide maintenance of Long Range Radar and Display System III (LORADS III) Air Traffic Control System.

The award of this contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

ST Electronics will work on this contract immediately.  The company has had a long relationship with the airport authorities, having provided various solutions toward making the Changi Airport a first class airport.  ST Electronics’ first foray into the integration of large-scale projects began with systems for Changi Airport in 1981. In 2002, CAAS appointed ST Electronics as one of the authorised panel contractors for the maintenance of the air traffic control, navigation and airport systems.  Currently, ST Electronics is maintaining these airport systems on a 24/7 basis.

ST Electronics has worked with CAAS and Changi Airport by providing solutions ranging from runway lighting to security access.  The award of these maintenance contracts shows that we are trusted to provide not only solutions but services as well.  We will continue to meet the needs of clients that demand high quality systems and services.

SEAH Moon Ming
President, ST Electronics

Over the years, ST Electronics has established itself as a reliable system supplier and maintenance partner to CAAS. In 2003, when there was an outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Singapore, ST Electronics was quick to develop the Infrared Fever Screening System (IFss) with Singapore’s Defence Science & Technology Agency.  The IFss were deployed at the entry points in Changi Airport to provide mass fever screening of passengers coming into Singapore.  ST Electronics also undertook the maintenance of these systems.

ST Electronics, the electronics arm of ST Engineering, delivers innovative system solutions to government, commercial, defence, and industrial customers worldwide.  It specialises in the design, development and integration of advanced electronics and communications systems, such as broadband radio frequency and satellite communication, e-Government solutions, Information Communications Technologies (ICT) and IT, rail and traffic management, real-time command & control, training and simulation, intelligent building management, and information security and mobile commerce solutions.
