Latest NewsDecember 2007ST Electronics Wins S$36M MRT Contract For Taipei’s Songshan And Xinyi Lines Singapore, 5 December 2007 — Singapore Technologies Electronics today announced that it has won a contract worth about S$36m from Marubeni Corporation for Taipei’s Songshan and Xinyi MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Lines. This contract award is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year. ST Electronics will design, supply, install and commission the MRT’s Communications System and the train-borne Communications System for the SongShan and Xinyi Lines. The new Communications System for the two new lines will be integrated into the existing systems of the Red/Green Line network at the existing Operation Control Center (OCC). These state–of-the-art systems will facilitate an efficient, reliable and safe mode of transportation in Taipei city. ST Electronics will begin work on the 6.4km Xinyi Line with its six underground stations and the 8.5km Songshan Line with eight underground stations, in the first quarter of 2008. Completion is expected to be in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
This is the fourth contract from Marubeni to ST Electronics in the international market and the third consecutive order in recent years after Taiwan Taoyuan Airport MRT and Turkey’s Marmaray Line. The Kaohsiung MRT Red and Orange Lines were added in late 2002 and early 2003. ST Electronics won the Taipei’s Hsinchuang/Luchou MRT Lines project in 2004 and earlier this year it was awarded the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System Construction Project.
