ST Engineering’s Electronics Arm
Wins S$7.5M Project In Dubai

ST Electronics to supply Integrated Security System
for Dubai Festival City

Singapore, 28 May 2007 — Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) today announced that its electronics arm, Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) has won a contract worth approximately S$7.5m to provide Integrated Security System for Festival Waterfront Centre in Dubai Festival City (DFC).

This contract award is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.

ST Electronics will work closely with the Al-Futtaim Group, owner and developer of the DFC, to design, supply, deliver and install an Integrated Security System.  This comprises Security Access Management, CCTV Surveillance and Digital Video Recording, Digital Locking, People Counting and Parking Guidance systems for Festival Waterfront Centre.  The Integrated Security System will deploy state-of-the-art video surveillance technology, and is designed to identify security access breaches or threats and ascertain the level of security coverage required. The system not only maintains physical security within the buildings but also ensures the smooth integrated operations of the various sub-systems.

Dubai Festival City, when completed in 2015, will be the largest privately funded real estate project in the Middle East with business, hospitality, residential and recreational facilities in one development.  The latest, most innovative development undertaken by Al-Futtaim, it will cover 1,300 acres and stretch along 4km of the Dubai Creek shoreline.  It will be equipped with facilities to meet the needs of millions of visitors and the 70,000 residents who will be living in 21,000 luxury units.  This unique waterfront development is earmarked to become a globally renowned destination, offering an eclectic, world-class mix of entertainment, dining and shopping, with hotels, residences, offices and a marina.  Festival City’s retail facilities are likely to be the main magnet for shoppers, residents and visitors. Festival Waterfront Centre and Festival Power Centre will provide 2.1 million square feet of floor space to cater to the most committed shoppers.

ST Electronics' partnership with the Al-Futtaim Group in providing a state-of-the-art security solution for this important complex heralds well for our products and solutions in the Middle East.  This contract adds to our recent win of a MRT project in Turkey. We are delighted that our position in the Middle East is further reinforced as we continue to tap into the unprecedented business opportunities in the region.

President, ST Electronics
