ST Electronics And Corus Entertainment To Co-Produce
A Series Of Animated DTV Titles

Singapore, 17 April 2007 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) and Corus Entertainment Inc. today announced that they have signed a letter of intent to co-produce a series of animated direct-to-video (DTV) titles.

The LOI was signed with ST Electronics’ subsidiary, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems), who will assign production responsibilities to its subsidiary, ST Electronics (Digital Media), while Corus will work through its award-winning animation facility, Nelvana Studios.

The first two projects in this slate are expected to be Puff the Magic Dragon and Franklin the Turtle. Puff the Magic Dragon is based on the hit folk song of the same name, originally penned by Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton. Targeted at kids and their families, the DTV will explore the relationship between Puff and Jackie Paper in the fantastical world of Honahlee. Franklin the Turtle is based on the best-selling books by Paulette Bourgeois and Brenda Clark, published by Kids Can Press in Canada and Scholastic in the U.S.  Franklin was first introduced to children and parents more than 15 years ago with the first book, Franklin in the Dark. Franklin has since spawned a television series, multiple DTV titles and a feature film. This new DTV will once again take kids into Franklin’s friendly and fun world.

These new productions are part of a long-term strategic partnership between Nelvana Studios and ST Electronics to co-produce, co-invest and co-distribute 3D animated television series and DVDs.  The first co-production launched as part of this venture was The Future is Wild, a 26-episode half-hour television series produced for Discovery Kids in the U.S. and Teletoon in Canada. This show is being sold worldwide and will premiere later this year.

ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) is responsible for distributing these joint properties in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, while Nelvana Enterprises is responsible for distribution in the rest of the world, providing the partnership with a global commercial reach.

“Nelvana has a long and successful history of delivering high-quality animation to audiences around the world,” said Scott Dyer, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Corus Kids, which owns Nelvana Studios. “Since working on The Future is Wild with ST Electronics, it became clear that we found the right partner who shares our long-term goals in the 3D digital animation space.  And we look forward to building more momentum to accelerate our projects and partnership towards success.”

“Our move into the digital animation business was a natural progression for the company from our core base of computer generated imagery for our simulation business,” said Seah Moon Ming, President, ST Electronics.  “We have been fortunate to establish a strong partnership with an international player like Nelvana.  This will allow us to escalate our new efforts to a global level.  I am very confident that with the strengths that both our companies possess, the partnership will yield many years of success in the highly dynamic and demanding 3D digital animation market.”

Nelvana Studios is a globally recognized animation studio that develops and produces award-winning animated properties and brands including the literary classics Babar and Franklin as well as shows such as Jane and the Dragon and Grossology. Nelvana Studios is owned by Corus Entertainment Inc., a Canadian-based media and entertainment company.
