ST Electronics’ SuperneT™ Radio Gateway ST2860
Wins CRP2007 Product Trophy in France
Singapore, 19 March 2007 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) today announced that its subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems) Pte Ltd, has been awarded the CRP 2007 (Congrès de la Radiocommunication Professionnelle) Product Trophy for its SuperneT™ Radio Gateway ST2860 (SuperneT™ ST2860).
The CRP Product Trophy award is based on the judging criteria of innovation, added value, technology, generated savings, target market, ergonomic, flexibility and evolution capabilities. CRP 2007, which is into its fourth run, was held at the Paris Congress Hall (23–24 January 2007). It is a leading exhibition for Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) in Paris, France. Major players of the PMR industry exhibited the latest products and services for radio communication networks, public and industrial safety equipment. Key players at the exhibition included Motorola, ETELM, Simoco, Tait, Teltronic, Aeroflex, KATHREIN, PRESOM, ICOM, EADS and CeoTronics.
The SuperneT™ ST2860 won the award for its capability to integrate and facilitate interoperability between three different types of radios - conventional, TETRA and Tetrapol. This provides interoperability among various public agencies which may use different communication devices, operating frequencies and technologies.
The SuperneT™ ST2860 is a field proven solution that caters to the needs of various public safety and homeland security agencies. Used with ST Electronics’ communications systems such as the Emergency Integrated Communication System, it has been deployed by Singapore’s Civil Defence Force and Police Force for public safety, disaster recovery and emergency management.
As part of an Integrated Communication System, the SuperneT™ ST2860 has extended its capabilities overseas with the Taiwan National Fire Agency. In 2006, it played a key role during the typhoon incidents in Taiwan as part of the vital integrated communication system within the Forward Command Vehicle. The system was deployed to speed up rescue work and greatly enhanced communications between public safety agencies.
The SuperneT™ ST2860 can be configured and set up easily for field operations using a web browser. Based on IP with scalability, there is virtually no limit to the number of radio gateways that can be stacked just by adding radio gateways and other ST2800 core components. It is compatible with all radios with PTT (Push-to-Talk) and Carrier-Operated-Relay (COR) interfaces, like GSM. As a compact 1U package, the radio gateway offers an ingenious solution to support multi-user radio access and interoperability between disparate radios. Using the latest VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) technologies, it provides multi-user access to a single radio, patches radios operating at different frequencies and interconnects radios to line devices through a radio conference.
