ST Electronics Supplies State-Of-The-Art Combat Simulator To The Republic Of Singapore Air Force

Singapore, 21 August 2006 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), has through its subsidiary, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd, provided a state-of-the-art, advanced combat simulator system to the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). ST Electronics is the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering).

The RSAF's Air Mission Trainer (AMT) was commissioned today at the Flight Simulator Centre, Paya Lebar Air Base by 2nd Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen. Jointly built by the RSAF, Defence Science and Technology Agency and ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems), the AMT is one of the most sophisticated and advanced simulator training systems in the RSAF and the first of its kind in the region.

The AMT is a multi-role combat simulator that allows RSAF pilots to train, operate and fight as an integrated force. The system is a cost effective technologically advanced solution that allows the RSAF to overcome limited training space constraints and hone the combat skills of pilots in a more challenging environment. The commissioning of the AMT marks another key milestone in the transformation of the RSAF into a 3rd Generation Air Force.

Our vast experience and strong capabilities in simulation systems and technology development has enabled us to produce cutting-edge simulation systems like the AMT for defence and commercial users. We are proud to be the prime contractor in delivering this superior simulation system to the RSAF. We have no doubt that this system will play a very crucial role in providing the most realistic, rigorous and cost-effective training for our combat pilots, and help immensely in RSAF's transformation into a truly 3rd Generation Air Force.
