Latest NewsJuly 2006ST Electronics’ US Satcom Company To Provide Singapore, 27 July 2006 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) today announced that its US satellite communications company, iDirect Technologies (iDirect), has been selected by Elara Networks, a leading satellite network service provider in Latin America, to provide the technology platform to Farmacias Similares, a privately held pharmacy chain based in Mexico. ST Electronics is the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. Utilising the iDirect platform, Farmacias Similares will benefit from higher quality, enhanced voice communication between more than 600 of its pharmacies and its headquarters offices in Mexico City, in addition to a more reliable and efficient inventory and distribution control capability. The iDirect technology will also facilitate the updating of operating software and additional internal network throughout the Farmacias pharmacy chain. Installation of the initial 600 sites is scheduled to be completed by 31 July. The iDirect satellite solution was developed with the single intention of delivering all the benefits of the next generation IP network beyond the constraints of the wired world. It offers significantly improved bandwidth utilisation, better network management tools.
