ST Electronics' Subsidiary Wins Electro-Optics Project
For Police Coast Guard Vessels
Singapore, 28 June 2006 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) has, through its subsidiary, STELOP Pte Ltd (STELOP), been awarded a $11.8m contract by the Ministry of Home Affairs for supply of electro-optics (EO) payloads on Police Coast Guard vessels. ST Electronics is the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering).
This contract award is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
STELOP will provide and install the EO payloads on Police Coast Guard patrol vessels. The EO payload is a stabilised and multi-sensor surveillance and observation system with day camera, infrared camera for night use and laser range finder. This system will aid patrol crafts' surveillance of waters around Singapore and facilitate search and identification of intruders day and night. The contract will commence in 2007 and be completed by 2009.

ST Electronics has implemented a number of homeland security solutions over the years. This includes a Harbour Craft Transponder System for the Maritime Port Authority (MPA) used for the identification and monitoring of all licensed harbour and pleasure craft by MPA and security agencies. Together with the Ministry of Transport, ST Electronics will also develop an information network system to support communications and information exchange among the 16 participating governments of ReCAAP (Regional Cooperation Agreement On Combating Piracy And Armed Robbery Against Ships In Asia) to fight piracy and robbery at sea in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.
