ST Electronics opens The Fort
- a Next Generation
Data Centre
Singapore, October 2008 — ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems) Pte Ltd today announced that its subsidiary, PM-B Pte Ltd (PM-B) has launched a next generation data centre called The Fort. PMB is 70% owned by ST Electronics (Info-Software Systems) which is in turn a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited.
The opening of The Fort signified PM-B’s new business venture in which it provides data centre co-location services. Co-location offers the flexibility to upscale technology and requirements as businesses grow. The Fort offers high quality, scalable data centre solutions customised to suit customers’ requirements. It is designed to accommodate systems that require high density power consumption (minimum 1200w/m2 to 2000w/m2) and being carrier-neutral, it gives customers the flexibility to choose their preferred carrier provider.
With more than 75,000 square feet of net usable data centre space, The Fort is able to support multiple clusters of high-end data centre facilities. Depending on the needs of the customers, they can choose to setup a Data Suite, Shared Suite, or house the servers in an open rack environment.
The Fort, meeting Tier IV classification (Uptime Institute), has been designed with high-end infrastructure to provide resiliency to critical data centre operations with high availability.
The infrastructure within Fort has been carefully planned with ample gross floor space being allocated to house base-build infrastructure such as multiple-power transformers, Uninterruptible Power Supply systems, standby generators separated by 2-hour fire-rated brick walls within each floor. Dry sprinkler systems have been installed within the data centre, together with VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Aspiration) system.
With single point of entry to the data centre, high perimeter hardened wall/fencing structure and 24-hour security facilities including controlled access and surveillance cameras, The Fort prides itself as a highly secured data centre.
