Singapore, 13 December 2005 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) has through its subsidiary, ST Education & Training Private Limited (STET), been awarded a $2.3 million contract to provide Homeland Security Consultancy Services to the Qatar Security Services Company (QSSC-Himaya). STET is a subsidiary of ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ST Electronics, the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering).
QSSC–Himaya is a state owned company, located in the capital city of Doha, which undertakes all security services in the State of Qatar. STET will provide total security and management consultancy services, including the development of QSSC's business strategies, procedures and processes, training and managing these operational matters. STET will also assist in the management and operations of QSSC's security businesses and to set up various homeland security businesses, ranging from event security management to maritime and aviation security.
The project commences in January 2006 and is expected to be completed by mid 2007.
"The contract is strategically important as it provides new opportunities to conduct other security related projects in the State of Qatar. STET will be establishing an office in Qatar to ensure the effective execution of the contract and to serve as the platform to other businesses in Qatar and the Middle-East region. This will also pave the way for other ST Electronics' companies to market their diverse range of security products in Qatar."
