CANADA-SINGAPORE ANIMATION COLLABORATION

Nelvana enters into strategic partnership with ST Electronics and the
Media Development Authority of Singapore

(Cannes, France—October 18, 2005) — Today at MIPCOM 2005, Nelvana Limited, together with ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd (STEE-T&S) and the Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore, jointly announce that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to produce and launch 10 direct-to-video and three animated series.

To launch the partnership, the parties intend to co-invest, co-produce and co-distribute 26 x half-hour adventure series The Future is Wild. This 3-D animated series features incredible lessons in evolution as a group of teenagers travels millions of years forward through time. There our heroes encounter sights and creatures that may seem the stuff of fiction—yet according to science, could easily become fact.

Through the strategic MOU, the parties will seek original concepts and pre-existing intellectual property for 3D animated direct-to-video and series development globally. The parties will maintain an equal Canadian and Singaporean participation to co-invest in and co-produce these properties. STEE-T&S, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Electronics), will explore building distribution networks for these products in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, while Nelvana will be responsible for distribution to the rest of the world, thus providing this partnership with a global commercial reach.

“Singapore, traditionally a service-oriented region, is fast becoming an animation force in the industry. We recognize the country’s wealth of technological expertise, and we are proud to be a part of its growth into a full-fledged co-production partner, contributing not only to animation production but also participating in downstream revenue,” said Scott Dyer, Nelvana’s Executive VP of Production and Development. “We are confident that this collaboration will become a cross-directional gateway for Nelvana into the Far East and our partners into the West.”

"With a decade of experience in the development of high-end training and simulation systems, which involves the use of extremely realistic graphics, it is a natural step for ST Electronics to apply this expertise to the world of 3-D animation. This collaboration is a great opportunity for us to work with global players in the animation industry. It will further enrich our artistry and skills in this highly specialised field and will enable us to bring quality 3-D animation to the worldwide market. This exposure to 3-D animation will enliven our offerings to the simulation and training market," said Lee Fook Sun, Deputy President (Operations), ST Electronics.

Dr Christopher Chia, CEO, MDA said, "Canada is our first treaty partner for co-production; and we are delighted by this latest partnership with established global players like Nelvana and Singapore animation company, ST Electronics. We hope that it will encourage other companies to partner with Singaporean companies to produce world-class content for audiences around the world.”
