SINGAPORE, 2 September 2004 — CET Technologies Pte Ltd (CET), a subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics), has been awarded a contract worth about S$163 million by Knowledge Internet Solutions Pte Ltd (KIS) to provide an automotive telematics system in Thailand. ST Electronics is the electronics arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Limited (ST Engineering).
To be launched in 2005, this leading telematics system will seamlessly converge wireless communications and the Internet with Global Positioning System (GPS) to provide various mobile information services to Thailand’s private car owners and their passengers onboard. These services also include emergency roadside assistance and entertainment.
CET will design, develop and implement this telematics system, using the latest technologies for mobile communications, Bluetooth™ and GPS.
“CET has identified telematics as a growth area, and research has forecasted the global market for fleet telematics to grow beyond US$5 billion by 2010.
Having equipped more than 20,000 vehicles for fleet owners worldwide with our advanced fleet management systems, CET is well positioned to take on a larger share of the global fleet telematics market.

The award of this contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
CET has invested more than S$10 million in research and development to build its capabilities in advanced fleet management and intelligent traffic management solutions over the past five years. CET has also established itself in the world of telematics and wireless communications with successful track records of designing and developing fleet management systems for taxis, buses, emergency recovery vehicles and trucks worldwide, as well as traffic management systems for land authorities in Singapore and China.
