SINGAPORE, 14 June 2004 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) today announced that it is working with palmOne, Inc. (PalmOne) (Nasdaq: PLMO) and Extended Systems, Inc (Extended Systems) (Nasdaq: XTND) to bring Extended Systems’ OneBridge Mobile Groupware, a mobile email and calendaring application, to businesses in Singapore.
The solution enables mobile employees to use Treo™ 600 smartphones and OneBridge Mobile Groupware to quickly access information, such as e-mail and calendaring functionalities, in a wireless environment(1). With the solution’s “always-on” push technology, e-mail and new appointments are delivered to the Treo 600 while automatically returning any changes made from the smartphone back to corporate email servers. The Treo 600, coupled with OneBridge Mobile Groupware, enables customers to achieve faster and more efficient response time and increased employee productivity.
With the aim of letting companies experience the benefits of mobility, ST Electronics and palmOne are launching a “Trial and Purchase” Programme with qualified companies from now through 15 September 2004. During the two-week trial period, ST Electronics consultants will work with companies to install the solution whilst palmOne will provide key executives with trial units of Treo 600 smartphone so that they can begin sending and receiving emails on the go.
“Mobile workers today want simplicity and convenience when setting up their mobile devices to access corporate information. The combination of OneBridge and Treo 600 provides users with an excellent system for meeting corporate mobility needs – voice and data on a secure and robust platform - and we are pleased to be working with palmOne on this initiative.” ~ Eric Chan,
“The combination of OneBridge Mobile Groupware and Treo 600 provides a powerful wireless voice and data system. It combines mobile access to information and a world-class phone, all in one extremely compact device. We believe that the ease-of-use of the award-winning Treo 600 smartphone will change how corporations view mobile computing.” ~ Paul Blinkhorn, |
Visitors to CommunicAsia 2004 from 15 – 18 June can get more information and experience the solution in action by visiting the ST Electronics booth located at Hall 6, 6F2-07, Singapore Expo.
